Her eyes shot miles ahead,

And every speck spotted as him.

The sun splashed the western sky in gold and red,

And the mellowed rose spread drowsy smell.

The enamoured honeysuckle hugged the parapet,

And winked and gave her a bashful smile.

The sportive sparrows twittered and fluttered,

And the graceful chairs with their curved postures,

Lingered to greet him in the airy balcony.

Her mind wistful to while away the evening,

Over cups of tea in his company.

But every speck enlarged into alien forms,

And moved away with no glance cast at her.

He never returned and her mind shrank in gloom and pang.

In the shell of rage and envy, he cocooned till he greyed,

And blazed into ashes with the fire that he lit.

But she stood still at the patience’s altar,

Till she sagged into a skinny bag, lonely and forlorn forever.
